My Ideology

My Ideology

Teaching is my “Calling.” I believe it is the most noble and humble profession of all. As someone I know said, “if there are no teachers, there are no lawyers, doctors, engineers… no nothing.” In short, educators build the foundation of a society. Having said that, I truly respect my profession and committedly fulfil my responsibilities as an educator so that all my students become successful members of society.

As an educator for over 25 years and a mother of two adult children, I have learnt that the best way to educate a child is in a nurturing environment. Hence, I firstly provide a welcoming and nurturing environment by connecting with them; I do so through conversation and, more importantly, by playing games with them. All my games are age-appropriate and curriculum-based for ages 4 and up. Building this connection with them helps me understand them a little bit more: their strengths, weaknesses, talents, skills, needs and interests.

Secondly, once I build a relationship of trust with my students, then together we set a goal.

Once the goal is set, together we set a plan to work towards that goal.

I strongly believe and have witnessed  as a teacher and a mother,  that children work more excitedly in an environment that offers them control over their learning. Hence, here at MiPal (one of the thriving online tutoring service in Toronto, Canada),  I involve my students in decision making and providing choices for their learning.

In summary, I provide a nurturing and welcoming learning environment in which the student is encouraged to set goals, devise a lesson plan, and feel responsible in achieving their learning goals. I  guide and facilitate  the young minds in their endeavours and journeys into discovering new learnings and know-hows.
